On Wednesday 12th July, Urban&Civic presented their regular update on plans for the development at Priors Hall Park Neighbourhood Association’s open meeting for residents at the community centre.
Attendees were given the latest information on housebuilders on site and plans for new walking routes before a discussion on the next play areas to be installed.
As the new zone 2 progresses, the first play area and public open space will be found at a new Village Green. The new green space will provide a feature within the Barratt Homes development parcel, with new homes fronting on to the landscaped area. The play area will have a similar timber based style as the popular spaces we currently have on zone 1.
Construction will take place over the coming months with a view to opening in 2024. The current plans include a new play area with equipment such as a large rope pyramid climbing frame, turning wheel, little mountain slide, see-saw, swings and more. As well as the main play area the Village Green will have a feature tree with seating around it and a recreation area with games tables, pétanque and ball labyrinth for all ages to enjoy.
As part of the planning for Priors Hall Park we will be building a range of additional community facilities to zones 2 and 3 as more homes are built, which will serve the whole community. This masterplan map shows some of the locations for these.
The Village Green will be the first to be delivered, before we work on Zone 3’s first play area and amphitheatre, planned for 2025. After that it will be the formal open space in zone 2, featuring a community centre, sports pitches, play area and allotments, currently expected to open in 2027.
As we look to start working on these future plans, we’re keen to hear from current residents about what you would like to see in these spaces?
This can be things you like that should be repeated, types of play you would like to see, things we don’t have that you’d like to see, or any other general suggestions..,.
If you have any ideas or suggestions, please feel free to send them to us at [email protected]
